Chester Monthly Meeting (NJ) was established in 1803 by Haddonfield Quarterly Meeting out of Evesham Monthly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox meeting changed its name to "Moorestown Monthly Meeting" in 1943. Chester Preparative Meeting of Friends (Hicksite : 1827-1934)

A preparative meeting at Chester was established in 12mo, 1698/9. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, this meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. In 1934, Chester Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) became the new Chester Monthly Meeting at the dissolution of the original Chester Monthly Meeting (Hicksite).
